Victor Valdes is a professional musician,
singer and dancer. As a solo harpist he has
given concerts in over 25
countries of 4 continents around the world.
He was a member of the best and highly acclaimed
Mexican Folk group of Veracruz Mexico, 'Tlen
Huicani' for ten years. (Named best folk
group in Mexico by the union of music and
theatre critics). With this professional group
Victor gave many concerts and performances
in respected halls and theatres. Including
15 times in the Sydney Opera House.
Victor is also a specialist in guitars of
Latin America and percussion's including conga,
bongo, timbal, maracas and much more. His
voice is powerful and passionate.
His talents as a dancer were recognised as
Assistant Director of Folklore Ballet for
the Secretary of Public Education in Veracruz
Mexico. For three years in a row he won 1st
place in the National Folklore Dance Competition
in Mexico City. Here, Victor taught Latin
dance at the Sydney Dance Company for four
years.
In Sydney he is a member of the Harp Society
and has performed at their annual concert
in the Government House and has given many
workshops of the Mexican Jarocho
Harp.
He also directs 'The Real Mexico' mariachi
band teaching the musicians the styles and
techniques of playing traditional Mexican
music from different regions
of Mexico.
As a choreographer Victor creates all the
dance routines for our "Real Mexico"
dancers
as well as designing and sewing some of
the costumes!
